3/18/2024 0 Comments Cybersitter 11![]() The new CYBERsitter uses a completely different filtering method, a tougher technology that's also found in high-end firewalls. ![]() Rather than patch up the vulnerable technology, CYBERsitter's President Brian Milburn rewrote the program from the ground up. The company "hit the afterburners" to finish this total rewrite in just five months, and that quick work left the program with a few rough edges. The result, CYBERsitter 11 ($24.95/year direct) is a radical departure, better secured than its predecessor, but minus a number of features. The company reacted to this one-two punch by filing a lawsuit and then rebuilding the application from scratch with an eye to security and ease of use. Then researchers discovered security problems in the code China co-opted. First their code got appropriated by China (yes, the country) and shoehorned into China's national " Green Dam"filtering software.
